Airport Commission
The Carlisle Municipal Airport is located within the city limits,
approximately two miles northeast of downtown and just north of Interstate
40, at 2608 Airport Rd. The airport is well-maintained and has two
4500 ft. paved runways, paved taxiways, a beacon, and radio-controlled
runway lights. It has a 10,000 square ft. main building equipped with
hangar space, restrooms, and a pilot's lounge. The airport also has
aviation fuel and ramp or tie down parking available. The City
currently has six T-hangars available for housing aircraft, with
construction underway on an additional eight units.
The main building is currently leased to
Carlisle Aviation, LLC, which
is running a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) out of the facility. In
addition to renting hangar and tie down space for single engine aircraft,
Carlisle Aviation houses two independent businesses. Looker Aviation
provides airframe and powerplant maintenance and repairs, FAA-certified 100
hour and annual inspections, and flight instruction. Davco Accessories
is an FAA-certified magneto repair station. A & M Flying Service, an
agricultural aviation business, operates out of facilities located on the
east side of the airport property.
The airport is situated on approximately 600 acres. 384 acres of the
property is in farmland, which the City leases to a local farmer. The
remaining unpaved portions of the property are mowed and the grass used to
make hay. Both the farming and hay operations are revenue sources,
which the City uses to help fund airport projects and maintenance.
